#3 Divergent (2014)

I have been very sick recently and stuck in bed all day (although i'm in bed most of the time anyways) so i decided to watch Divergent. I am a bit skeptical about watching two hour movies with Shailene Woodley as the lead actress, but my friend told me to watch it so i did.

First, the only time I've ever liked Shailene is in The Secret Life of an American Teenager because she was young and i really like shows and movies about American high schools. But other than that i don't get why everyone is fussing over her? Just like the Jennifer Lawrence, why?! But i'll get to her another time. Also i wasn't sure if she was wearing a wig/hair extensions because didn't she chop all of her hair off for TFIOS? I think maybe this movie came before it? I'm not sure.

The plot was pretty good. I've never read the book so i'm not sure how that compares to the movie. I tried listening to the audio book but i didn't end up because i didn't have time. The action scenes were pretty intense too, and i noticed how hard they had to work on them, the acting was pretty professional also.

Miles Teller though. He was an asshole wasn't he? Well he normally is, but not to pretty lead actresses he isn't. Theo James was a hard one to focus on, yeah he is good looking and perfect for that role. But does anyone remember him as that asshole on The Inbetweeners Movie that ran over Simon on his motorbike? I knew i saw him somewhere when i watched it, i thought he was from the Host, but then i clicked when i searched him up on IMBd.

I am rating this movie a 7, the same as the IMBd rating. I don't think i would watch it again, because of the fact of it's two hour length and my mindset for movies is not the same as it use to be.

#2 The Outsiders (1983)

The Outsiders is one of my favourite books and another one of my favourite movies. It's very moving and true. The original writing, S. E. Hinton based it off of the gangs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she was living when she wrote the book at seventeen-years-old.

There are the Greasers and the Socs (short for socials), two rival gangs always out to get each other. Then Johnny kills one of the Socs and then crap hits the fan.

I think my favourite character is Dallas Winston, maybe it's just because i like bad boys, but he really did have a personality. Ponyboy Curtis was also an amazing person.

I loved the fact that even though they were poor and had bad lives that they still stuck up for each other and still cared for each other.

The Outsiders was rated 7.2, but it still received a place in the top 500. I think it deserved at least a nine because of it's place in the world. Like, if you watch it today, which is around twenty years later, then it's still relevant to what happens in society today.

P.s; Sorry if my reviews are too short, i'm working on making them longer.

#1 The Basketball Diaries (1995)

I have just finished watching The Basketball Diaries, the second film of "Young Leo" i have watched, apart from Titanic

This is the film adaption to Jim Carroll's literary work of the same name. This film is definitely not for children or saints because of it's high use of profanity, drugs and sexual nature. The story starts out with Jim writing in his diary, he doesn't look like he has a very great life from the start because he lives in a crummy neighborhood and i noticed there was an absence of his father. Although by the sound of it, Jim was good at school and quite a bright young man. Then things spiral out of control and get worse.

I thought is was an excellent movie, i think IMDb hasn't given it the greatest rating (7.3). The acting was really good, especially nearer the end and there was that scene at Jim's mother's door, also before that at Reggie's house. I thought they were both great scenes.

Drug addiction is real. So is the dangers in New York, now and back then. This movie makes you realize this. And it makes you sad that these are sixteen-year-old boys that are snorting drugs, not twenty six-year-olds. It's scary how people can act violently when you say the wrong things when they are on drugs, or if you take those drugs away from them.

It's surprising to see that this movie was before Titanic. It was probably Leonardo's acting in this movie that got him sought after for Titanic, then after that it was all as easy as pie for him, because he is just a natural at this.

Peer pressure is another main theme in this movie. They started at a gateway drug, then curiosity and pressure took them to the next level and into a place where it was nearly impossible to get out of.

The ending was a little flat, it didn't really wrap it up as well as it could of. But that's probably because since it was based off of a book, they didn't want to make anymore stuff up than was needed.

Overall this movie deserved at least an eight and a half, and it nearly earns a place in my 'favourite movies of all time' list. Maybe if i watch it again then maybe some day it will.

New Review Up Soon.

Hello all, quick notice;

I will be doing a quick review on The Basketball Diaries because i have heard some great things about it. I can't remember the exact year it was out, but it was definitely before the 2000's. One of my favourite actors, Mark Wahlberg is in it with DiCaprio. I think Leonardo DiCaprio was such a great actor back then, i mean he still is now, he's just grown up and in different movies now, well we won't get into it, but yeah i shall watch The Basketball Diaries either tonight or tomorrow night, maybe even Friday i'm not sure yet.

100 Film Facts About Me

I'm not really sure how to start off my blog, but i guess i could start by writing down, err typing, 100 movie related facts about me. Now i'm not one for introductions so i'll just start shall i?

1. I can't remember where my first love of moves came from, i had never been glued to the tv in my younger days because i used to go outside a lot when my family used to live out in the country. Maybe what really fueled it was those teenager years, yeah when you first start high school and everything starts changing, even what you value the most.

2. The first movie i ever watched was probably something my parents were watching.

3. But i do remember receiving DVDs from my Nan and they were; ShrekThe Road to El DoradoPaulieChicken Run and maybe one or two more than i can't remember at the moment.

4. My all time genre is the romantic comedy genre.

5. Although i can watch a movie from all genre.

6. I'm not fond of horror movie though, so you probably won't be seeing many on my blog.

7. I have not got through the end of Frozen, all of this drama about it makes me annoyed thus making me not want to watch it. I'm not the one for trends. I intend to keep on not finishing Frozen for as long as i can.

8. If i have a movie i love to bits i will watch it religiously for about a month.

9. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging is one of these movies. Yes i did read the whole series of books after this, bad me.

10. The worst movie i have ever watch was Eagle vs. Shark. I just.... yeah i can't even explain how much i didn't like that movie.

11. I can say New Zealand's film making isn't the best.

12. Although The Lord of the Rings Trilogy  is in one of my all time favourite movies. I grew up watching it on VCR, i didn't appreciate it back then, but now i greatly appreciate it.

13. I didn't enjoy The Fault in our Stars. Should i have? I read the book before i watched it, i didn't think it was anything to waste a movie ticket over.

14. I have a whole heap of movies posters in my room, only four are on the wall though; Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3Safe Haven (saw the movie a year after i obtained this poster, oops.), Hall Pass, and Sanctum.

15. I adore Elijah Wood's acting, yes even as the creepy guy in Pawn Shop Chronicles.

16. Chronicle is another movie that i like. Now I obsess over Dane DeHaan.

17. After a really good movie i usually go on Tumblr and reblog every quote in that movie, listen to every song and search to see if there's a book (if there isn't then i slowly go sulk in a corner).

18. I didn't enjoy Titanic. Don't get me wrong, Leo was a great actor (great looking too) back in those days, i just thought it wasn't very realistic.

19. I've only read a few books before I've watched the movie. Those including Warm Bodies (another obsession of mine), read a few chapters of Under The Dome because when the season ended i was lost for answers (p.s the books holds the answers, but the series is way off from the book, yay for season 2 though!), The Outsiders and a few more that i can't think of right now.

20. Teen Wolf is my everything at the moment. I can't decide who i like best on the show, in these last few seasons Dylan O'Brien has moved to the front of the pack (heh, pun). I don't want to be mean, but since he has grown his hair back he's looking more lush. I'll most likely make an official post about Teen Wolf, so stayed tuned!

Wow, only 20 facts? I might have to stop here and start again tomorrow.
